Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube opened up about his team's recent struggles, and the positives he saw following a hard-fought overtime win against the Sabres.

The Toronto Maple Leafs finally found their way back into the win column on Saturday after a three-game losing skid, coming from behind to earn a 4-3 OT victory over one of their divisional rivals, the Buffalo Sabres.

Leafs Head Coach Craig Berube Pleased With Victory

Following the game, Craig Berube spoke to reporters about his impression of the team's performance, acknowledging both the effort and the improvements made.
As shared by Maple Leafs Hot Stove on X:
"A gritty win is how I kind of look at it. The difference is that we were better at defending the odd-man rushes and things like that."

Berube also praised the team's energy and attitude, noting that they seemed to be playing with more edge.
"I thought our guys played hard. I liked the jam they played with tonight. We were physical, and there were a couple of nice hits. A little bit pissed off."

He then added a lighthearted comment about what might have fueled the team's intensity and had them playing with some extra jam:
"We've lost three in a row. That is probably why. If I lost three in a row when I was playing, I guarantee I would've gotten into two fights."

John Tavares Plays the Hero Once Again

Maple Leafs veteran John Tavares delivered in the clutch once again, scoring the overtime winner to secure the victory for Toronto.

Anthony Stolarz's Criticism May Have Sparked the Team

Although starting goalie Anthony Stolarz didn't dress for the game -- likely due to rest -- his recent comments may have struck a chord with the team.
Last week, Stolarz publicly expressed his disappointment in the team's effort and emphasized that his expectations are much higher.
While purely speculative on my part, that criticism may have ignited the group's renewed determination and willingness to battle -- showing they can respond to adversity.

What's Next for the Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs will look to build on this emotional win when they host the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night at Scotiabank Arena.
With a hard-earned victory finally breaking their losing streak, expectations are high for Toronto to carry that momentum into the next stretch of games.
