Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman had revealed when goaltender Joseph Woll can make his Maple Leafs season debut at the earliest following his leave of absence.
Since that point in time, the club has been tight-lipped, only stating that it was a family matter and nothing to do with substance use.
Joseph Woll Back With Maple Leafs
Woll skated on Saturday to begin the process and will be joined the Leafs for practice immediately upon his arrival on Saturday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, but isn't expected to play right away.
Timeline For Joseph Woll's Return Revealed
On the "Saturday Headlines" segment of Hockey Night in Canada, Friedman noted that Woll would be able to play no earlier than November 1st, given the timeframe of when the Leafs placed him on LTIR, but that date doesn't necessarily mean he will debut then.
"He's going to rejoin them for practice - because he is on LTIR, he cannot rejoin them for a game situation until November 1st. I assume there is going to be a conditioning stint but right now, at this point, there is no set idea as to when he'll actually be able to plan an NHL game."
How long Woll's conditioning stint lasts before he returns is yet to be determined, but having him play a couple of AHL games to get up to speed is the most likely scenario before they thrust him into NHL action and take some of the pressure off of
Anthony Stolarz.
