Contract Demands From Jack Roslovic Revealed; Price May Keep the Leafs in the Running

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been on the hunt to address their forward depth all summer long and with Mitch Marner departing, they were able to fill in some gaps with Matias Maccelli, Dakota Joshua, Nicolas Roy, and Michael Pezzetta.

There had been reports earlier that the Maple Leafs were interested in free agent forward Jack Roslovic to fill in a much needed top-9 spot.

However, after they acquired Dakota Joshua from the Vancouver Canucks and assumed his entire cap hit, many felt the Roslovic train had left the station.

Nevertheless, Roslovic is still searching for a new home and with recent reports coming out about his reasonable contract demands, the Leafs may very well still be in the hunt.

Elite Prospects' Cam Robinson tweeted out earlier today that Roslovic's camp is looking for a deal that is 2 or 3 years in length with a cap hit slightly over $3 million.

The Leafs have just under $3 million in cap space to play with, but still have Nicholas Robertson's arbitration meeting to deal with that is scheduled for the 3rd of August. As such, if they want to bring on Roslovic, they would have to move David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok to make things work.

GM Brad Treliving has been working the phones on Jarnkrok and Kampf, who own cap hits of $2.1 million and $2.4 million, respectively.

The 28-year-old Roslovic has a bit of history with Auston Matthews after their time spent in the U.S. National Development program and is coming off a season where he tallied 22 goals. As a top-9 forward who can play both the centre and wing positions, Roslovic would be the perfect addition for a Leafs team that is looking to rebrand this identity as more of a blue collar club.
