The Leafs have had open lines of communication with veteran forward Calle Jarnkrok and he's reportedly open to working with the team in order to facilitate a move.
There have been several reports coming out of Toronto that the Maple Leafs won't be making any additions to their roster before they move some contracts and free up cap space, with a very likely candidate to move being Calle Jarnkrok.
The Swedish forward carries a cap hit of $2.1 million and is set for unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2026, mitigating a lot of risk on the part of opposing teams looking to acquire him. While he's dealt with injuries in the last few years, he's only 2 years removed from a 20-goal campaign and has a lot left in the tank.
The Leafs are looking to make changes, but in order to do so, moving a contract like Jarnkrok's is a must, and it sure sounds like both sides are on the same page with recent reports suggesting that the 33-year-old wouldn't object to a trade.
According to 'Sekeres and Price', the Leafs have had discussions with Jarnkrok, and while he hasn't formally requested a trade, he understands the situation and wouldn't object to a move under the right circumstances.
Jarnkrok carries a modified NTC, but it wouldn't be surprising if GM Brad Treliving tries to work with him in finding a destination that works best for him.
With both sides seemingly working amicably to make it happen, finding the right exit strategy is very important. It would not only give them added salary cap relief, but it would also open up a roster spot that would allow the Leafs to bring a player like Roslovic into the fold.
