The Maple Leafs and continue to revamp their forward group as they made a Thursday afternoon trade with the Vancouver Canucks for a 6-Foot-3, 205-pound forward.

While GM Brad Treliving works on trading a pair of veteran forwards in David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok, he continues to add more size up front.
Treliving's plan to replace Mitch Marner was by committee, and on Thursday afternoon, he completed a trade with Vancouver to re-acquire Dakota Joshua.

Maple Leafs Acquire Former Fifth-Round Pick Dakota Joshua

The Leafs acquired 29-year-old Dakota Joshua from the Vancouver Canucks this afternoon for a 2028 fourth-round pick.
The Michigan native was originally drafted by the Maple Leafs in the fifth round of the 2014 draft, but was traded to the St. Louis Blues in 2019 for future considerations, where he began his NHL career.
Joshua is by no means an offensive dynamo, tallying just 14 points in 57 games last season, but brings an abundance of physicality to the Leafs' middle and bottom-six as he has totaled 660 hits over the last three seasons in Vancouver.
Joshua also adds another center for the Leafs with a respectable 54.8 percent faceoff win-rate last season. Treliving said he wanted to add more depth and spread Marner's salary around and adding Joshua does just that.
Entering the second year of a four-year deal, the 29-year-old is under contract until the end of the 2027-2028 season with a $3.25M cap hit.
