Free agent winger Evander Kane has already met with the NHL regarding the investigation into whether or not he had travelled across the Canadian/American border while COVID-19 positive in December, while would put him in violation of COVID protocol yet again, and could have some legal repercussions as well.
Originally, Kane was thought to have been nearing a deal with the Edmonton Oilers worth as much as $1.5M for the remainder of the 2021-22 season, but no contract could be finalized when it was announced that the investigation would be launched.
Now it appears as though the NHL will need the remainder of this week, at least, to determine the outcome of the investigation. Therefore, we cannot expect to hear a decision until sometime next week, according to Real Kyper and Bourne's Nick Kypreos.
