If you're looking for a way to correlate the Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays, we might have found one, with defenseman Chris Tanev sharing a likeness to Kevin Gausman.
The Toronto Blue Jays are currently in the swing of a playoff push with just over a month remaining in the MLB season. Blue Jays mania has certainly taken over the city, especially after the Toronto Maple Leafs most recent playoff exit.
If you were looking for more reasons to cheer for either team, one might have just surfaced from a recent interview featuring Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev and Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman.
CityNews Toronto reporter Lindsay Dunn caught up with the pair of athletes who share a very similar likeness to one another, and asked them about their unlikely yet surprisingly funny correlation, starting with Tanev.
Yeah I've been stopped at the airport a couple of times, and people are so excited, and then they see it's me and they're not as excited as if it was Gaus.
She then asked the same question to Gausman, who said that it didn't dawn on him until someone mentioned it during their City Connect jersey reveal.
When we revealed the City Connects, that was the first time someone had told me that, and my first thought was that it had to be hair, and then I looked up a picture and saw a picture of his smile so it was kind of a funny moment for me. It's pretty crazy, it's pretty similar.
While Tanev is just a few weeks away from starting training camp, Gausman is set to take the mound tomorrow afternoon during the second game of their weekend series against the MLB-leading Milwaukee Brewers.
The Blue Jays have been atop of the AL East division for quite some time but are now facing stiff competition with New York and Boston quickly rising in the standings.
It would be very cool to see both the Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs playing side by side in October, however to get to that point, the Jays will have to keep a steady pace in their playoff push.
