Despite the changes that took place in Toronto this summer, Leafs forward William Nylander reestablishes his primary goal heading into the 2025-26 season.
With or without Mitch Marner, the Toronto Maple Leafs have one goal in mind heading into the 2025-26 season, and that is hoisting the Stanley Cup in June, therein by ending their dastardly long drought.
The public perception towards the Leafs star players has very rarely been positive. At one point in time they've all been painted as the black sheep but it's something that comes with the territory of playing in a market like Toronto.
I think people forget that we, as players, also want to win. So I think we have our goal to want to go all the way, so been playing there for a while, but I mean, I don't know, I don't really think about what other people say or what their opinion is of how we're playing.
Nylander reiterates that everyone in the locker room has one objective every season, and it has never changed or wavered. Winning the cup is on everyone's mind and it's something they're collectively working towards as a group.
We inside the locker room know what we need to do to get there, and I mean, it's not an easy battle, so you gotta appreciate the grind it takes to get there for when you do eventually get to that point.
It's clear that the Leafs will be one-track minded this year in trying to find a way to get over the hump and lift the trophy at the end of the year. It won't be easy with how the Atlantic Division is positioned, but with Nylander and Auston Matthews leading the charge, the Leafs will be in good hands as they look to reestablish their dominance.
