Craig Berube confirms that Nick Robertson was one of the players who stood out to him the most on the first day of on-ice sessions at Maple Leafs training camp.
"(Nick Robertson) had a good first day today at camp. He was noticeable. He's a quick player. He's fast. He shot pucks today. They went in the net. I mean, he was intense."
To his credit, the former second-round pick shared that he spent the off-season focusing on zone exits and wall work -- something Berube was quick to note that was asked of many players.
It isn't an ideal spot, but the offense he can provide in the bottom-six is something the Leafs will need this season and Robertson is hopeful he will be rewarded for his hard work.
"Just keep doing what I'm doing. I know my hard work is going to pay off."
Coming off of a season in which he played a career-high 69 games and scored 15 times, Robertson will look to build off of a successful first day of camp and leave no doubt in Berube's mind that he should be in the opening night lineup.
