Anthony Stolarz Not the Only Leafs Goalie to Struggle as Joseph Woll Loses Return Game with Marlies

Leafs netminder Joseph Woll made his much anticipated return to game action on Saturday, albeit in a losing effort with the Toronto Marlies.
It was not a good night to be a member of the Maple Leafs or Marlies on Saturday, as both clubs dropped their games, with both
Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll struggling mightily.
Meanwhile, Woll, who was making his return on his first game with the Toronto Marlies in the first game of his conditioning stint, did not fair much better, allowing 3 goals on 24 shots.
In Stolarz's case, he has struggled to keep the puck out of the net for much of the year, without receiving much help from the team in front of him. It's hard to fault him fully for the numbers he is sporting this season (3.35 GAA, .889 SV%), but he shouldn't be let off the hook either.
In Woll's case, his obvious struggles are a bit more understandable, after the 27-year-old missed all of training camp, the pre-season and the start of the season after taking a leave of absence from the team to deal with a personal family matter, which he didn't feel comfortable revealing to the media and fans this week.
It's a reasonable expectation that Woll will get at least 1 or 2 more games in with the Marlies before he'll make his season debut with the Maple Leafs.
When it comes to Stolarz, the Leafs have not yet confirmed if he'll be right back in goal against Carolina tonight, or if they'll defer to the rookie
Dennis Hildeby.
