Unsure of who would start Sunday's game following a disastrous outing from Anthony Stolarz, Leafs head coach Craig Berube confirmed his starter ahead of warmups.

Without Joseph Woll, who is very close to finally re-joining the Leafs for game action, they have depended heavily on Stolarz to begin the season. The 31-year-old has started 12 of 15 games for the Leafs, including a disastrous effort in Saturday's loss to the Bruins.

Saturday's Loss Left Berube With Difficult Decision

After giving up 4 goals on 15 shots, including the first two shots he faced, Berube pulled Stolarz in favour of Dennis Hildeby.
Initially, Hildeby was expected to get the start on Sunday with Stolarz getting the nod Saturday. When asked who would start following Saturday's loss, Berube was non-committal to either.

Hildeby Gets the Nod

Taking his time to make a decision, the Leafs' bench boss confirmed hours before puck drop that Hildeby would get the nod on Sunday.
Hildeby was recalled earlier this week, when the Leafs placed Cayden Primeau on waivers. Giving up 1 goal on the 20 shots he faced in relief Saturday, the Swedish native earned praise from Stolarz after the game.
In 6 games with the Leafs last season, the 2022 fourth-round pick was 3-3-0 with a .878 save percentage and 3.16 GAA, and the Leafs will hope he can build off of his excellent relief performance on Saturday to end their four-game home-stand with a win tonight.
