According to a recent report, the sweepstakes for Jack Roslovic is getting closer to a resolution with the Maple Leafs expected to be a finalist for his services.

The Toronto Maple Leafs should have their answer to the Jack Roslovic sweepstakes with a recent report from Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli suggesting that a decision could be coming in shortly.
The NHL insider also went a step further by singling out the Maple Leafs as a landing spot and a finalist for the utility forward, who they have been coveting since the beginning of the off-season.
The 28-year-old potted 22 goals last season for the Carolina Hurricanes, which makes his availability this late in the summer perplexing. However, it has been noted by insiders like Elliotte Friedman, that Roslovic has been willing to wait on the Leafs to free up space for his pending arrival.
Unfortunately those transactions have not come to pass because it's been a little too quiet on the trade front in regards to David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok. Their trade value is difficult to gauge and it doesn't sound like many teams are lining up to bite on their salaries.
While it's an encouraging sign that the Leafs remain fervently in the hunt for the Ohio native, they still have quite a bit of work to do. It's been mentioned that Roslovic's camp is looking for a 3-year deal in the neighbourhood of $3 million per season.
With the Leafs currently holding onto just $1.91 million in open cap space, it makes it an even more pressing issue to find a suitor for the aforementioned veterans or perhaps looking to off-shore other players like Nicholas Robertson to make the finances work.
Roslovic would be a welcome addition to the Leafs roster for a variety of reasons. He has previous playing experience with both Auston Matthews and Max Domi, can play both down the middle or on the wings, and is suited for any line within the top-9.
With a resolution nearing, it will be interesting to see if patience pays off for the Leafs. Roslovic still being a free agent this late in the summer bodes well for Toronto's chances but everything seemingly hinges on whether or not they can move a body or two off the roster in time.
