New Leafs winger Michael Pezzetta made an appearance on The JD Bunkis Podcast, sharing rationale for leaving Montreal to sign with the Maple Leafs.

On the first day of free agency Michael Pezzetta signed a 2-year deal with the Maple Leafs worth $787.5K per season.
The 27-year-old joined his hometown team after four seasons on their long-time division rival Montreal Canadiens, and on Tuesday, Pezzetta made an appearance on The JD Bunkis Podcast where he discussed joining the reason behind his decision to depart Montreal to join their biggest rival.
"It's been my dream to put this [Maple Leafs] sweater on my whole life There was no doubt in my mind that I'd I had the opportunity to go to Toronto, I had to do that. I had to live that and see how it works out."
Pezzetta is the newest hometown player to 'bring the passion' to the Maple Leafs, joining the likes of John Tavares, Max Domi and the freshly re-signed Steven Lorentz.
The 27-year-old could replace Ryan Reaves as the resident tough guy given the cheaper cap hit, but is more likely to act as the 13th or 14th forward for the Leafs this season.
In four seasons with the Leafs' division rival Montreal Canadiens, Pezzetta skated in 200 games where he tallied 15 goals, 38 points and 241 penalty minutes. Last season, the former sixth-round pick played in just 25 games without registering a point.
