Scott Laughton Reveals the Story Behind Viral 'Last Supper' Photo Before Trade to Maple Leafs
Maple Leafs forward Scott Laughton finally shared the details on his viral "last supper" photo ahead of the trade deadline deal to Toronto.
Acquired at the trade deadline back in March for a first-round pick and prospect Nikita Grebenkin, Scott Laughton had a feeling leading up to the deadline that he was finally going to be dealt after years of rumours.
In case you missed it, the 31-year-old shared a photo resembling 'The Last Supper' with a few former Flyers teammates and the Flyers' trainers.
At the time, Laughton briefly described the idea as a way to troll the hockey community after being shopped over the past few seasons.
On Wednesday, Laughton was asked about the story behind the photo by NHL.com's Dave McCarthy during his appearance on NHL Network Radio.
"Usually take the trainers out once or twice for dinner. I thought it was the perfect time a week before the deadline. I'll give credit to Erik Johnson. It was his idea. The numbers worked out perfectly, and we had the dim lighting. I was a little scared to post it. I think just being in the rumours for that long in Philly, I wanted to stir it up because everyone was stirring it up on me for a long time."
Although Laughton struggled at the end of the season, he mentioned that attempting to adjust to a new team mid-season was very difficult, but after a summer in Toronto, is looking forward to training camp and being more of a contributor for the Leafs.
