With the Maple Leafs hampered by injuries, GM Brad Treliving has major updates regarding the statuses of Chris Tanev and Scott Laughton.

It's been a tough week for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who not only slumped to a 1-2-0 record, but also dealt with injuries to key players including Morgan Rielly, Chris Tanev and William Nylander.
Fortunately they were only without Rielly for one game, but Nylander ended up missing Saturday's contest and remains questionable going into Tuesday. The same can be said for Calle Jarnkrok, who recently joined the list, as he is dealing with a lower-body injury.

GM Brad Treliving Offers Injury Updates

As for updates on their respective statuses, GM Brad Treliving did offer up some good news regarding Tanev, as well as Scott Laughton, who has yet to make his season debut.
With the Leafs schedule offering up some reprieve this week, Treliving does believe there's a good chance that Tanev and Laughton could be back in time for this Saturday's contest against Philadelphia.
We'll see this week. Tanev won't play tomorrow, he's not eligible to come off until Saturday, so we'll just see. They're getting closer. Scott has missed more time, but he's in that stage of starting to ramp up, and hopefully be joining the group here before too long. So hopefully sooner rather than later.
Tanev was placed on the injured reserve after he was forced out of Tuesday's game versus the New Jersey Devils. Whereas Laughton was an IR placement ahead of the season opener.

Reinforcements Are On Their Way

With Tanev out of the lineup, the Leafs have juggled their defensive pairings several times over, but it does sound like he should be returning when he's first eligible to come off the IR, which will be ahead of Saturday's game.
As for Laughton, his return had been estimated to be ahead of their November 1st contest against his former club, and based on Treliving's comments, that could certainly be the case, especially if things trend in the right direction over the next few days.
Reinforcements are on their way and that's only going to be a boon for the Leafs, who definitely need all hands on deck as they try to shake off their early season struggles.
