The Maple Leafs' most recent update on Steven Lorentz following unfortunate injury is undoubtedly a cause for concer for the organization as opening week comes to a close.

Steven Lorentz left Saturday night's game in the first period after taking a massive hit from Red Wings defenceman Ben Chiarot that may have caught him in the head.
The winger was unable to return to Saturday's game, with the Leafs reporting that it was an upper-body injury, though most, I'm sure, are worried about a potential concussion.
Lorentz now joins linemate Scott Laughton on the sidelines as the latter is currently week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Craig Berube's Update on Steven Lorentz Opens the Door For Easton Cowan

After an abysmal second and third period against the Wings on Saturday, the Leafs practiced on Sunday back in Toronto, where Berube put his lines in a blender, promoting rookie Easton Cowan to the top line, indicating the 20-year-old will make his NHL debut on Monday.
Following practice, the Leafs' bench boss revealed that Lorentz was "doubtful" for Monday. His status will likely not be upgraded before Tuesday either.
Lorentz provides the Leafs' bottom-six with speed and physicality and will be missed while out with his injury, particularly on the penalty kill.
On the flip-side, his injury opens the door for Cowan to make his highly anticipated NHL debut on Monday in a position that no one would have predicted.
