After a lot of secrecy and avoidance, Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving has shared a significant update on Joseph Woll's return to play planning.

With the Toronto Maple Leafs finally inching their way towards full health, after Chris Tanev and Scott Laughton skated on Monday, the team also had some positive news to offer on the Joseph Woll front.
Woll initially took a leave of absence from the team during training camp, with the only information provided by the team being that his absence was related to a family issue and not a substance use issue.
On Monday, as the Maple Leafs took to the ice at Ford Performance Centre to prepare for a back-to-back against the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets this week, GM Brad Treliving spoke with the media and dropped a solid update on Woll and where he's at with his conditioning.
The Hockey News' David Alter shared Treliving's message this morning, which confirmed that Woll has been actively preparing for his return, skating for several weeks, opining that the 27-year-old would likely see time with the Marlies on a conditioning stint as well.
For Woll, the team is allowing him to focus on his return to play process and has not yet made him available to the media. That trend has continued on Monday with Treliving informing reporters that Woll remains unavailable for interview.
In his absence, Anthony Stolarz has been a workhorse, starting 7 of 9 games, with Cayden Primeau, who was claimed off of waivers a few weeks ago, picking up a pair of wins in his two starts with the team.
Even with Woll having skated, he still needs to get up to speed in terms of puck touches in a game setting, so it wouldn't be shocking to see Woll take to the ice in the AHL within the next week or two, at which point, his readiness for his season debut in the NHL will be re-examined.
