According to Frank Seravalli, the Maple Leafs are reportedly one of the finalists to sign Auston Matthews' former USHL teammate and current free agent forward.

While Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube is looking forward to seeing the new additions to the forward group up close when training camp opens, he may have an additional puzzle piece to fit into his lineup.
Despite GM Brad Treliving confirming reports of the Leafs not having any other significant imminent moves, we all know he is always looking to improve his roster.

Maple Leafs One of Three Confirmed Finalists to Sign Free Agent

All summer, the Maple Leafs have been included in the race to sign Jack Roslovic. Captain Auston Matthews' former USHL teammate surprisingly remains unsigned, but the Leafs, along with the Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes, have been keeping tabs on the former Winnipeg Jets forward.
While they aren't the only three teams, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli revealed on Tuesday's 'Bleacher Report Notebook' that they are three of a handful of teams waiting on Roslovic to make a decision about his playing future.
"You've got your contenders that are sort of looking to see if Jack Roslovic is willing to bet on himself and take a short-term, short-money deal to repeat the success he had last year in Carolina. I don't think the door is completely closed in Carolina. One of the teams to keep an eye on is the Toronto Maple Leafs. They've had discussions."
The Leafs already have 14 forwards on their roster, with Berube hinting to The Athletic this week that Nicholas Robertson is not guaranteed a roster spo. Should the Leafs end up landing Roslovic, it would essentially guarantee that Robertson would once again be the odd man out.
Currently, the Leafs have a shade under $2M in cap space, so any deal would likely require someone to be moved out, and if Treliving is unable to move David Kampf or Calle Jarnkrok, Robertson seems like the most obvious choice to be moved to make room for Roslovic.
As training camp begins next week, we should expect a decision from Roslovic shortly, along with any necessary moves from the team that ultimately signs him.
