Woll has been granted a leave of absence from the team for personal reasons, according to a report from NHL Insider Chris Johnston, who dropped the bombshell on Tuesday morning ahead of Leafs practice.
Woll's Absence in Toronto Not Related to Substance Issues
The news comes straight from Leafs GM Brad Treliving, who informed the media on Tuesday that Woll will be away from the team indefinitely for reasons not relating to substance abuse, per NHL.com's Dave A. McCarthy.
Woll's Leave From Leafs Due to Family Concerns
Frank Seravalli has since come forward with more information, suggesting that this issue is a family matter.
The team has since confirmed Seravalli's report with an official announcement, which they have shared via their social media accounts.
Woll was a huge factor for the Maple Leafs in the 2024-25 Stanley Cup playoffs, pushing the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers to 7 games. There's no question that his absence will be a noticeable one.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Joseph Woll and his family at this time, and we hope to see the 27-year-old back with the team before long.
