Leafs head coach Craig Berube took a playful shot at Leafs media members, describing what he was most excited for heading into the 2025-26 season.

Wednesday was the opening day of training camps across the NHL, with players, coaches and management kicking things off by meeting with the media.
In Toronto, things began with Craig Berube and GM Brad Treliving discussing the goals for the upcoming season, and of course, who will most likely be replacing Mitch Marner alongside Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies.
While speaking with the media, Berube was asked about what he is most looking forward to about the upcoming season. In response, Berube cracked a joke regarding the now defunct 'Core 4'.
"What excites me is I don't have to hear 'Core 4' anymore. Hopefully I don't have to hear it from you guys, the whole season."
Berube's light-hearted joke comes as the Maple Leafs officially turn the page on the Mitch Marner era, and after an off-season that saw Treliving commit to 'changing the DNA'.
All eyes will be on the Leafs' top line when players take the ice tomorrow for the first time. Unfortunately, it will be without Max Domi, who is dealing with a lower-body injury.
With Domi sidelined for the first couple of days, Matias Maccelli should see himself begin training camp next to Matthews and Knies as Berube looks to add another playmaker to his top line.
