With NHL teams reporting to training camp, the Leafs have officially unveiled their roster, which features several intriguing pieces looking to make their mark.

With the regular season right around the corner, training camp is set to kick off tomorrow, and with that comes the unveiling of the all-important training camp roster.
The Toronto Maple Leafs officially posted theirs earlier today, which features an abnormally high number of 73 players, which includes 44 forwards, 23 defensemen, and 6 goaltenders.
Outside of the obvious names like Auston Matthews and William Nylander, the forward corps is an interesting one that features a lot of prospects from Miroslav Holinka to Tyler Hopkins, but none more important than Easton Cowan.
All eyes will be on the 20-year-old former first round selection. Cowan lit up the OHL stage with 63 goals and 165 points over 100 games in the past 2 seasons before going nuclear in the playoffs with an additional 23 goals and 73 points.
He is as good as it gets in terms of Maple Leafs prospects and with his junior career having come to an end, he will be entering camp with a chip on his shoulder as he attempts to earn a roster spot outright for the season opener.
On the defensive side of things, it's a similar situation with all the NHL regulars, but one name that should excite Leafs fans is Cade Webber. The 6'7 defenseman brings about a stylistic level of play that would fit well into Craig Berube's system.
The 24-year-old played in his first professional season last year with the Toronto Marlies and chipped in with 7 points and 35 PIMs across 60 games but brought about a level of physicality that the Leafs are always looking for.
Both players bring something to the table that the Leafs desperately need, whether it's Cowan's offensive skill or Webber's size, reach, shot blocking, and physical presence, so it will be interesting to see if they can impress the decision makers in the next coming weeks.
The Leafs' pre season schedule will kick off on the 21st when they visit the Ottawa Senators. They play 6 games in total with 3 home and homes against Ottawa, Montreal, and Detroit that will lead directly into their season opener on the 8th of October.
