"Whenever the 2020 NHL offseason comes, Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas will have quit the work cut out for him. Because of the shortened season, it's expected that the 2020-21 salary cap isn't expected to go up and likely stay the same. As of now the Leafs are only projected to have $7million in cap space for next year with just 16 NHL roster players signed. One player who will need to get something done with Dubas is restricted free agent Ilya Mikheyev. The "Soup Man" made quite an impression on fans and the locker room so the team will be looking to get something done. According to The Athletic and Mikheyev's agent, the two sides have had a "few cordial conversations" but nothing serious. They've yet to get any real blueprint done because of the unforeseen situation happening now.
