"The Toronto Maple Leafs made it official earlier today when they confirmed that they'll be landing a KHL free agent. Toronto revealed that KHL free agent forward Alexander Barabanov has chosen the Maple Leafs as the team he'll be jumping overseas to play with. It was an interesting signing as Barabanov has never scored more than 17 goals in the KHL.The 25 year old signed a one year deal worth reportedly $925k. Leafs' head coach Sheldon Keefe commented on the signing and revealed what to expect from the forward. "We're really excited to add another player to the fold here that we think has great experience and a great skill set, very high character. He checks a lot of the boxes."
It'll be interesting to see what he can bring and if the signing for under $1million means that one of Alexander Kerfoot, Kasperi Kapanen or Andreas Johnsson will be moved to free up cap space.
