The Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly completed a trade, acquiring 24-year-old skilled winger Matias Maccelli from the Utah Mammoth.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have largely had their hands tied with internal matters this past week, including the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, and finally completing multi-year extensions for both Matthew Knies and John Tavares.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Maple Leafs have sent only a conditional 2027 3rd round pick back to Utah for Maccelli, who has 1 year left on his current deal at a little over $3.4M before becoming a restricted free agent.
Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli has also confirmed that the condition on the pick is that if Maccelli notches 51 points and the Leafs qualify for the playoffs, the pick becomes a 2029 2nd rounder.
Nice bit of business here for the Leafs to acquire a skilled young player with some decent potential in need of a change of scenery.
