The Maple Leafs continue to search for a top-six forward and have an opportunity to nab a disgruntled 24-year-old in Columbus, but it would come at a steep cost.
Maple Leafs Could Swap Nick Robertson for Disgruntled Columbus Forward Yegor Chinakhov
Although Robertson seems happy in Toronto under Craig Berube, there is an opportunity for the Leafs to acquire a winger that better fits into Berube's play style in Yegor Chinakhov from Columbus.
On Sunday's '32 Thoughts', Elliotte Friedman stated that he believes it is a possibility for the Leafs to land the star forward, but it would cost more than just Robertson.
"I had one Columbus fan ask me if Chinakhov for Robertson made sense. I think Toronto would have to do more to get that done."
Friedman didn't get into specifics about what the Leafs would have to give up, but it's safe to assume, given his reaction to the question, that Chinakhov won't come as cheap as some are anticipating.
