Shanahan, who shared an official statement following his dismissal, has since missed out on one intriguing opportunity to join the New York Islanders organization following his release in Toronto. As it turns out, though, Shanahan may not be the only member of the front office to be sent packing.
According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Leafs are currently pondering additional changes to the management group in Toronto, which could see more cuts in the coming days once GM Brad Treliving and MLSE CEO Keith Pelley have a chance to sit down together.
"Any additional potential management/front office changes in Toronto will come after Pelley & Treliving meet and discuss the plan moving forward. Rumblings some changes may be coming, but nothing confirmed at this time."
Pelley has already confirmed that Treliving himself is safe, as is Leafs head coach Craig Berube. Pelley has expressed his faith in his GM and head coach, and has already suggested that he views them as real assets and that he intends to work very closely with both of them moving forward.
