NHL Insider Chris Johnston has revealed Maple Leafs winger Mitch Marner's plan for the future now that the Leafs have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are reeling from an incredibly disappointing end to their playoff run, getting routed 6-1 by the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the second round. The loss has reignited calls for major changes, and speculation is swirling.
At the center of that speculation is Mitch Marner, a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA), who may have played his final game in a Leafs uniform.
Marner's post-game comments struck many as cryptic and somber, fuelling further rumours about his future with the club.
Adding to the growing belief that Marner may bolt, well-known hockey insider Chris Johnston all but confirmed the speculation on his podcast, The Chris Johnston Show.
As shared by @LeafsLatest on X:
"In his mind, he's gone. His intention is to test free agency if you asked him today."
Marner struggled mightily in the post-season, especially in the later games. Frustration boiled over among Leafs fans, who booed him every time he touched the puck during the second half of Game 7.
Whether or not Marner returns, one thing is clear -- this roster needs a shake-up. The current formula hasn't delivered playoff success, and the pressure to deliver in Toronto has never been higher. The city and its fans deserve more.
