The Toronto Maple Leafs are certain to be eyeing big changes this summer, and one top NHL Insider believes that they could involve long-time rival Brad Marchand.

With the dust having barely settled after last night's disappointment over the Leafs' blowout loss in Game 7, the talk is already shifting to what sort of changes the organization will make this summer.
Mitch Marner, soon to be a UFA for the first time in his career, was caught on camera, screaming at his Leafs teammates last night during a TV timeout, which was a pretty solid indicator that this could very well be the end of his time in Toronto. His emotional reaction was likely due to that realization.
John Tavares is another player who could be on his way out, despite maintaining that he would very much like to extend in Toronto and be a part of the solution.
We know that President Brendan Shanahan is more than likely a goner this summer, as his contract has come to an end without much success to speak of over the last decade.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman during his most recent edition of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, though, there may be one change coming that perhaps nobody is expecting.
"Watching Brad Marchand doing his fencing with the media at the end of the game, I wonder if [the Leafs] are going to take a run at him this summer."

Marchand was very complementary of the Leafs during his post-game media session, publicly stating that he grew up a fan of the team. He also defended the Leafs against the harsh criticism they face in Toronto and the intense market that they play in.
Marchand, like Marner and Tavares, will be a UFA this summer and will have his pick of the litter. Even at his advanced age (37), he is still an asset that teams will covet -- not just for his experience, but for his unique ability to take the opposition off of their game on a nightly basis.
Will Marchand sign with the Leafs? That remains to be seen. However, with how much love he showed the Leafs during the post-game presser after Game 7, anything is possible.
