Craig Berube Advises Leafs Management on What to do with UFA's Mitch Marner and John Tavares

With reports surfacing that Mitch Marner will be testing free agency come July 1st, and John Tavares' future in question following another disappointing playoff run, Craig Berube was asked about their futures with the Leafs during his end-of-season media availability.

When asked about whether the Leafs should re-sign the duo, without hesitation, Berube gave a short, but resounding answer, leaving no doubt as to what he thinks this team is capable of.

Berube's very bold 'yes' to re-signing two members of the 'Core 4' was somewhat expected given that he kicked off his availability implying that he was content with 'running it back' yet again.

Leafs Nation will riot if the Leafs run it back with the same core after nine years of playoff disappointment and just two series victories, but maybe a second year under Berube and some less significant changes to the roster is what is needed.

Regardless of how the Leafs' off-season plays out, there will or should be some major changes to the roster over the next few months one way or another. Whether Marner and Tavares are brought back is up for debate, but with Berube's zero hesitation with his response, it's very clear that he believes he can win with them.
