TSN's Chris Johnston shared an update on Morgan Rielly's future with the Maple Leafs that conflicts earlier reports about his no-movement clause.

Rielly's name has been in the rumour mill since the Maple Leafs were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Florida Panthers, but holding a full no-movement clause for the next three seasons of his contract certainly backs the Leafs into a bit of a corner.
The longest tenured Maple Leafs player had a tough first season under head coach Craig Berube -- so much so that the 31-year-old publicly admitted to his struggles in January and many thought his time in Toronto would be coming to an end.

Maple Leafs and Morgan Rielly the Subjects of Conflicting Reports

While early reporting suggests that Rielly has been asked to waive his NMC, that does not actually seem to be the case as TSN's Chris Johnston reported during an appearance on 'The Steve Dangle Podcast' just hours after Kypreos shared his update. Per Johnston, the Leafs have not approached the former first-round pick about waiving his no-movement clause.
"I don't think the Leafs have approached him about it."
To his credit, Rielly played far better after the deadline when he was partnered with Brandon Carlo. The Vancouver native ended the season skating in all 82 games for the Maple Leafs tallying 7 goals and 41 points while adding 4 goals and 7 points in 13 post-season games.
Under contract for another five seasons with a very reasonable $7.5M cap hit, the Leafs and Rielly likely won't be discussing a separation until his modified no-trade clause kicks in at the end of the 2027-28 season, unless things take a disastrous turn.
