A former Leaf looks like he will be heading back to where his NHL journey began. Reporter Larry Brooks is reporting that forward Jimmy Vesey and the New York Rangers may be working on a potential deal that would see Vesey back in a Rangers jersey next season.

Vesey, 29, spent this season with the New Jersey Devils after signing a 1-year, $800K deal that allowed him to see more playing time to try to prove his worth. Playing in 68 games this season, Vesey put up 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points.

The former Hobby Baker winner has taken a lot of stops along the way in Buffalo, Vancouver and Toronto. Vesey will be no stranger to Rangers fans as he played three seasons there. In his six seasons in the NHL, Vesey has played in 422 games, collecting 72 goals and 63 assists for a total of 135 points.

For Vesey, this could be his last chance at cracking an NHL lineup as a regular. The silver-lining for Vesey here is that the only 3 full seasons that he played in the NHL came with the Rangers, so perhaps he'll find himself with a regular depth role back where it all started in New York.
