With the Maple Leafs tight on cap space and Nicholas Robertson's name continuously popping up in the rumour mill, 3 potential landing spots have been revealed.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are still looking to address their roster ahead of the 2025-26 season, however they've remained in a state of purgatory in the last little while due to their inability to move forwards like David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok.
The veteran forwards carry a sizeable chunk of cap space that the Leafs would love to offload, however not too many teams are interested or lining up for their services, leaving Toronto somewhat empty handed.
They've been linked to utility forward Jack Roslovic for months but haven't ben able to make in-roads due to having just $1.91 million in cap space leftover. Should Kampf and Jarnkrok prove to be impossible to move, they could look towards Nicholas Robertson.
The 23-year-old forward recently avoided arbitration and signed a one-year deal worth $1.825 million with the Leafs. However, despite the new contract, his name remained in the rumour mill, leaving many to wonder where his future lies.
With that in mind, Sports Illustrated listed 3 potential landing spots for the former 2nd round pick, should the Leafs feel the need to move him with the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and Pittsburgh Penguins mentioned.
The Blackhawks are believed to be a viable landing spot because they need scoring wingers and NHL-ready talent surrounding Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar. The Red Wings are also in need of younger talent with Patrick Kane or James van Riemsdyk tabbed as potential first line wingers.
The Penguins link makes a lot of sense on many different fronts, starting with Kyle Dubas having drafted Robertson when he was the GM in Toronto. With the Penguins trying to get younger, Robertson would fit in seamlessly alongside veteran centres like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.
We saw a glimpse last year of what could be when Robertson is given regular minutes, as he deposited a career-high 15 goals. However, should the Leafs need to make an immediate upgrade, and Kampf and Jarnkrok remain immovable, Robertson would make the most sense in terms of maximizing their return.
