Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has revealed some information on what kept Matthew Knies out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Blues.

To say that the Toronto Maple Leafs are an injured group right now is an understatement. With nearly $40M worth of players currently sidelined due to injury in Toronto, the team is in a serious jam, but still managed to pull off the win over the Blues to snap their 5-game losing skid.

Knies Joins Growing List of Injured Leafs

The latest player to have gone down with an injury was Matthew Knies, who has emerged as a star for the Leafs this season. The Arizona native is on pace for a career year, so it's tough to see him go down and derail any potential momentum.
Following Tuesday's win over St. Louis, Craig Berube was asked about Knies and what the nature of his injury was. He revealed the following:
"Lower body. This morning, I wasn't sure if he was going to play or not, so I told Sammy [Blais] to be ready, and he came here tonight, Knies, and couldn't go... He's had a lingering thing for awhile, and it got worse today."
Knies has produced a whopping 22 points through 19 games so far, despite moving around a little bit in the lineup and dealing with a revolving door of linemates.
The list of Maple Leafs injuries, per PuckPedia, has grown to 8 players -- 9 if you include Marlies defenseman Marshall Rifai, who was injured before the start of the season.

Leafs' Injury Issues All Believed to be Short-Term

As of right now, all of Auston Matthews, Matthew Knies, Brandon Carlo, Chris Tanev, Anthony Stolarz, Nicolas Roy, Scott Laughton, and Sammy Blais are listed as day-to-day.
The depth has certainly been tested this season, and the Leafs have also had to rely on waivers to help get them through, as they have put in claims on 3 players this season, including Cayden Primeau, Troy Stecher, and the aforementioned Blais.
