Flames centre Nazem Kadri took to social media to cook the Sportsnet panel for their segment on his possible 9-year long feud with Golden Knights centre Jack Eichel.
Last night's matchup between the Calgary Flames and Vegas Golden Knights was the final game of Sportsnet's Hockey Night in Canada broadcast.
During one of their segments, the panelists which included Kevin Bieksa, Elliotte Friedman, and Luke Gazdic alongside host Ron MacLean, discussed a potential 9-year long feud between Nazem Kadri and Jack Eichel, which started during the former's days in Toronto when the latter was in Buffalo.
Bieksa brought up that during the first period with the Flames heading on the power play,
Morgan Frost was yanked out of the face-off circle, which prompted Eichel to look towards someone, nodding, and having a few choice words for them. That player turned out to be Kadri.
Friedman then piggy backed that observation by claiming there is a history that dates back 9 years when Kadri was with Toronto and Eichel with Buffalo. In a game on March 16th, 2016, Kadri and Eichel had several run-ins before the former tripped up the latter in overtime resulting in a power play.
After the game Kadri had a few choice words for Eichel, which seemingly kicked things off. Eichel responded back by saying he was working on his two-way game but that it wasn't Kadri's place to be making such comments.
"He's a good player. I think he has a hard time in his own end, but definitely special with the puck."
After 9 long years and both players having found new homes, you'd think the feud would be squashed, also considering not much came about it afterwards even during their Atlantic Division days.
Not according to Sportsnet, who took to their social media page to promote the possible feud. Kadri took exception and cooked them for what could have been possible clickbait from the major Canadian broadcasting company:
Sportsnet reportedly deleted the post after Kadri's comments, which is never a good look.
They've already been under fire after their new TV deal was announced considering how fans have felt about their blackout restrictions, outdated panels, and lack of variety among other issues.
Safe to say that if there was ever a decade long beef between Eichel and Kadri, it has officially been squashed. As for Sportsnet's, they might think twice before posting something like that if players are going to come in the comment section and roast them.
