Following a decisive victory of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Leafs head coach Craig Berube provided a concerning update on the health status of Jake McCabe.

In Tuesday's victory over the Florida Panthers, Jake McCabe was forced to leave the game after an awkward fall into the boards. The incident happened with just over a minute left in the third when he and Carter Verhaeghe collided as they went into the corner for a loose puck.
On Friday, Berube confirmed McCabe would not play on Saturday, and after a convincing 5-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets the Leafs' bench boss was asked for an update on the 31-year-old.
"Nothing really (new) right now. He is still day-to-day. I don't know if he will play in the next game or not. We will see how the next couple of days go."
The Leafs have a couple of days off before they head down to Florida for back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday against the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning, and while Berube is hopeful McCabe will make the trip, there is a growing concern among Leafs fans that he will not.
While McCabe would likely want to play, and the Leafs would want to have him in the lineup for a pair of huge divisional games, it makes more sense to give him time to rest and prepare for Game 1 of the playoffs.
