Former Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer has reunited with the Maple Leafs, according to an official report from the Leafs' PR team.
In light of the uncertainty surrounding Woll's situation and when he might be able to return from his leave of absence, the Leafs have decided to bring James Reimer back on a PTO agreement.
Reimer, now 37 years of age, spent last season with the Buffalo Sabres, playing 22 games for the organization, followed by a brief 2-game cup of coffee with the Anaheim Ducks as well.
TSN's Darren Dreger also told listeners on Thursday that the Leafs were looking at the market for goaltenders and that a trade was also possible. Reimer's PTO certainly ends all of that speculation.
Reimer last suited up for the Maple Leafs during the 2015-16 season before he was ultimately dealt to the San Jose Sharks. Reimer has also spent time with the Panthers, Hurricanes, and Red Wings.
Across 525 games in his NHL career, Reimer has posted a combined 225-187-65 record to go along with a .910 SV% and a 2.89 GAA.
