With the absence of goaltender Joseph Woll, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been presented with an interesting option between the pipes on the waiver wire.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were hoping to open the 2025-26 NHL season with what would have been a formidable goaltending duo in
Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll.
Maple Leafs Could Benefit Greatly From Waiver Wire Goaltender
While
Dennis Hildeby seems capable of filling in for Woll, at least temporarily, the Maple Leafs' system is still down one netminder, and an interesting option has just opened up.
The Utah Mammoth have announced that goaltender
Connor Ingram has been placed on waivers. If he is not picked up by another team, he will head to the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL.
Ingram, an original draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning back in 2016, has admittedly had a bumpy ride so far in the NHL.
Connor Ingram Could be a Fit for the Toronto Maple Leafs After Being Placed on Waivers
At the same time, with 102 NHL games under his belt, as well as a handful in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Ingram has far more experience than Hildeby, who has played just six games in the NHL.
Taking Ingram from the NHL waiver wire would mean very little risk for the Maple Leafs as he could be placed back on waivers when Woll is ready to return.
His experience and his ability to play well at times could be just what the team needs to help in the short term. Should he play above expectations, room can be made to keep him.
