The Maple Leafs are pondering a big decision, according to TSN's Darren Dreger, and it involves the ongoing Joseph Woll situation.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have already played half of their pre-season, carrying a 2-0-1 record in 3 games thus far, including an absolute throttling of the Montreal Canadiens by a score of 7-2 last night.
Still, even with the solid performances thus far, there are a couple of big questions looming over the Leafs: what is going on with Joseph Woll, and when might he return?
With Woll taking a leave from the team earlier this week to deal with a personal family matter, Leafs GM Brad Treliving has already confirmed that there is no timeline for his return. This has undoubtedly created a roster issue for the Leafs, and one that needs to be addressed.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Leafs have been actively perusing the trade market in search of an experienced goalie, presumably to backup
Anthony Stolarz until Woll is ready to return.
Treliving made it very clear this week that he sees
Dennis Hildeby as a viable option to step in and hold the fort while Joseph Woll is away.
"At some point, you have to let people swim a little bit; take the training wheels off and let them ride. That is certainly the case we are looking at with Dennis right now." - Treliving on Hildeby
We'll just have to wait and see how this situation unfolds.
