Veteran Leafs Forward Breaks Silence on Uncertain Future in Toronto

In the midst of a battle with Nicholas Robertson for one of the final roster spots, veteran Calle Jarnkrok opened up about his uncertain future with the Leafs.
Last season was one to forget for 34-year-old Calle Jarnkrok as he battled a handful of injuries, including hernia and groin surgery that limited him to just 19 games - something he admitted he did at nowhere near 100-percent healthy.
With such an injury-filled season, Jarnkrok's name was circulating in trade rumours throughout the summer, but the Leafs and GM Brad Treliving have been unable to find a taker for the former second-round pick.
Entering training camp fully healthy, Jarnkrok has looked very good in the pre-season so far and is vying for one of the final roster spots with Robertson, David Kampf and rookie sensation Easton Cowan.
Calle Jarnkrok Discusses His Uncertain Future With Leafs
Sportsnet's Luke Fox caught up with the 12-year veteran following Thursday's practice. Jarnkrok touched on his approach to his uncertain future.
"I'm here just trying to do my best. Have some fun out there. You never know when it's gonna end. I'm not getting any younger. I mean, competition is always good," he says. "It's good for the team. Like I said, I'm having fun right now. I don't know what's going to happen. Just have to wait and see."
Despite being in trade rumours for months, Jarnkrok is taking it in stride as he enters the final year of his current contract, clearly enjoying being able to be pain-free for the first time in more than a year.
