While speculation continues to swirl regarding Nazem Kadri and the Maple Leafs, the latest report on the situation is pointing to an unfortunate outcome.
In terms of attempting to acquire players from his former team, Leafs GM Brad Treliving has been unable to succesfully swing deals with the Flames, as we've seen with his failed attempts to land Nikita Zadorov and Chris Tanev, until the latter was traded to the Dallas Stars.
While that seems to be the issue again regarding Treliving's efforts to acquire former Maple Leafs center Nazem Kadri, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli revealed on 'The Bleacher Report Notebook' that the issue may not be directly related to the Leafs. Apparently, the Flames are hesitant to deal the 34-year-old to anyone.
"You've heard Nazem Kadri linked to the Maple Leafs. You've heard him linked to the Montreal Canadiens. How about we just keep the link with the Calgary Flames because he's done just about everything they could have asked and they're not interested in moving him. Sources indicate that the Calgary Flames really haven't engaged in any of those conversations. it would take a heck of an offer to get Nazem Kadri out of Calgary."
The former first-round pick of the Leafs has been open to a reunion with his former team since the departures of Kyle Dubas and Brendan Shanahan, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it will come to fruition before the upcoming season.
