Maple Leafs fans in attendance at Scotiabank Arena are not only booing their team's woeful performance, but some fans have shown the ultimate sign of disrespect.
This was not at all how the Toronto Maple Leafs wanted to perform in front of their home fans in their critical Game 5 against the Florida Panthers.
The Leafs were thoroughly outclassed by the Panthers on Wednesday, with the Cats scoring at will en route to what will be a 3-2 series advantage after having initially trailed 2-0.
And as has been done on a handful of occasions in the past, a handful of frustrated Maple Leafs fans have demonstrated how upset they are by tossing their expensive Leafs sweaters onto the ice.
At least two fans chose to waste hundreds of dollars in their protest during tonight's Game 5:
Fans had already been booing audibly as time ticked away in the 2nd period and the Leafs trailing 4-0; a pair of fans decided to take things to the next level.
Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs pulled goaltender Joseph Woll from the crease in favor of Matt Murray in the 3rd period after his 5th goal against. Murray quickly allowed a goal by Sam Bennett, who snapped a shot past his glove hand immediately after a Florida faceoff win.
The Maple Leafs now must win 2 straight games in order to avoid an early summer and an extension of what is the NHL's longest Stanley Cup drought.
