It's getting spicy in Maple Leafs' land as we have our second straight summer of restricted free agent drama. Of course last year was highlighted by the disaster that was the William Nylander contract negotiations. One could argue that the Nylander camp won that standoff. This summer all the drama surrounds Mitch Marner and his contract situation which seems to be much more explosive than the Nylander negotiations. Marner's camp has made it clear they'll explore outside offers and Leafs' general manager Kyle Dubas has made it clear he doesn't feel any pressure to match an offer sheet. With the restricted free agent interview period opened, Marner has already started talking to other teams. According to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, Marner is the first restricted free agent to negotiate with multiple teams since Shea Weber.Darren Dreger of TSN reports on Wednesday that multiple teams have already started discussions with Marner's camp. This is going to be a very interesting next couple of days.
