Recent Poll Predicts Nick Robertson's Fate with Maple Leafs Ahead of Training Camp
With 14 forwards currently on the roster, Nick Robertson's job is up for grabs and a fan poll suggesting the 22-year-old may have a change of scenery ahead of him.
Minus Mitch Marner, the Leafs and GM Brad Treliving have done a commendable job replacing the former first-round pick. In doing so, they have brought in Nicolas Roy, Dakota Joshua and Matias Maccelli among others to give the Leafs' forward group depth it hasn't had in years.
All of those additions have led to a surplus of NHL-quality forwards for the Leafs, pushing Robertson's name back into trade rumours, despite Robertson having agreed to a new one-year deal to avoid arbitration last weekend.
Fans Not Convinced Nick Robertson Will Remain With Leafs
Although Robertson's ability to score has him in the Leafs' good books, a 'Confirm or Deny' poll from TSN's 'OverDrive' has fans divided about the future of the former second-round pick.
Just 40-percent of voters believe that Robertson will be in the Leafs' opening night lineup while 60-percent believe that he won't be.
Not in the opening night lineup doesn't mean he isn't on the roster, but it would be a step back for him after being in last year's opening night lineup.
With just over a month until training camp begins, many expect the Leafs to make some more moves to free up some roster and cap space, but what those moves are remain unknown and could very well involve Robertson.
