"When the Toronto Maple Leafs held their end of season press conferences, general manager Kyle Dubas refused to confirm that Mike Babcock would be back as head coach next season. The Leafs' GM dodged the question heavily and the two had a difference of opinion during their separate press conferences. Dubas basically saying the season was a failure and Babcock saying the team took another step forward and is improving. John Shannon of Sportsnet has also confirmed that Dubas does not need upper managements permission to fire Babcock. The plot gets thicker as Bob McKenzie mentioned on TSN Edmonton Monday that he could see Ken Holland, who's expected to be named new Oilers GM, trying to bring Babcock in. McKenzie isn't the only one as Mark Spector of Sportsnet also reported that Holland could ask the Leafs for permission to speak to Babcock. It's clear that Babcock and Dubas aren't on the same page compared to Babcock and Holland who could write a book together.
