Maple Leafs fan favourite Max Domi emphasizes the importance of home ice advantage ahead of the playoffs following thrilling win over the Canadiens.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are riding high after a crucial 1-0 overtime victory over the Montreal Canadiens. Not only did they delay their longtime rivals from clinching a playoff spot, but the win also secured home ice advantage for the Leafs in the first round of the playoffs.
Max Domi, who dropped the gloves in a spirited tilt against the much larger Kaiden Guhle, spoke about the importance of locking in home ice.
As per Terry Koshan on X:
"It's huge. Any time you can lock up that, it's massive. Whoever we're going to play it's going to be a heck of a battle in the first round. Hopefully our fans are ready to go because we will be for sure."
Domi isn't the only Maple Leaf fired up. Earlier on Saturday, Steven Lorentz expressed similar energy, making it clear the Leafs had no plans to take it easy on the Habs, and they delivered on that promise, thanks to Mitch Marner's overtime heroics.
Anthony Stolarz continued his stellar run between the pipes, stopping all 15 shots he faced to earn his seventh win of the season-and a shutout. With multiple back-to-back starts and consistent strong play, Stolarz looks all but confirmed to be the starter for Game 1 of the playoffs.
The Maple Leafs are now just one win away from clinching the Atlantic Division, something they haven't accomplished yet in their history, excluding the makeshift North Division in 2020-21.
