As the Maple Leafs continue to search for a top-six forward, a report has surfaced connecting them to another Stanley Cup Champion from the Panthers.

Recently connected to a pair of Pittsburgh Penguins forwards in Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell, as Leafs GM Brad Treliving looks to replace some of the production from the departed Mitch Marner, the Leafs are also rumoured to be interested in bringing in another Stanley Cup Champion.

Maple Leafs Linked to Two-Time Stanley Cup Champion Evan Rodrigues

The Fourth Period's Dave Pagnotta released an updated 'Summer Watch Trade List' this week that includes the likes of current Leafs forwards David Kampf, Calle Jarnkrok, Nicholas Robertson and defenseman Morgan Rielly.
It also includes the likes of two-time Stanley Cup Champion Evan Rodrigues, with Pagnotta noting that the Leafs have shown interest in the 31-year-old. Rodrigues isn't the top-six forward Leafs Nation is hoping for, and while the Toronto native would add even more depth to the Leafs' middle and bottom-six, fans don't want to see another average forward join the fold.
Rodrigues is entering the third year of a four-year deal and carries a $3M cap hit. While Treliving was adamant about spreading Marner's salary throughout the lineup, he needs to move out some bodies like Kampf and Jarnkrok before he adds to the bottom-six.
Rodrigues tallied 15 goals and 32 points last season, helping the Florida Panthers to their second consecutive Stanley Cup so he can chip in offensively, but at this point, Leafs Nation is hopeful that Treliving will bring in someone that can contribute more consistently.
