Maple Leafs Confirmed to Have a Meeting Set with Mitch Marner

Over the weekend, reporter Andy Strickland shared that Mitch Marner's tenure in Toronto is over, which was later emphasized by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman when he shocked manyon his '32 Thoughts' podcast when he revealed that Marner has been dodging the Leafs' calls.

Strickland's news wasn't much of a surprise to Leafs Nation, but Friedman's revelation that Marner has been avoiding the Leafs certainly caught many off-guard for two reasons.

The first being that the Leafs were content with 'running it back' and the second being that Marner showed his true colours and had no intention of returning.

In sharing the news that Marner had been avoiding the Leafs, Friedman noted that his decision may not be made until well after July 1st as the former first-round pick has the intention of setting up meetings with potential suitors and then visiting those that are deemed 'finalists'.

One of those meetings is reportedly being given to the Leafs, according to Friedman, which garnered a laugh from co-host Kyle Bukauskas.

At this point, fans and pundits are wondering what the point of the meeting is, given Marner's lack of willingness to negotiation or help facilitate a sign-and-trade.

While there is no confirmed date, Marner cancelled his annual charity event which was to be held July 10th and 11th, suggesting that he is very likely to be on his way out in Toronto.
