Leafs head coach Craig Berube has vented his frustration over the double standard after Max Domi's controversial hit on Aleksander Barkov to end Game 4.
Following Game 4, there was plenty of discourse surrounding a possible suspension or fine for Max Domi after he hit Aleksander Barkov in the numbers as time ran out. He was issued a major penalty for boarding on the play.
As they have done all playoffs, the Leafs did not hold a practice on Monday, but that didn't stop Berube from discussing his displeasure with the double standard the league and officials seem to have when it comes to targeting the head and attempts to injure.
Kulikov, like Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad, Matthew Tkachuk, and Evan Rodrigues, escaped without so much as a minor penalty on their respective controversial plays. Meanwhile, the Leafs were penalized six times, including four in the first period of Game 4, to the Panthers' three penalties all game long. None of the Panthers have faced any supplemental discipline for head shots delivered in the series.
As the series shifts back to Toronto for Game 5 on Wednesday, all eyes will be on how the Leafs respond and if the officials finally gain control of the Panthers and their dangerous hits.
