Maple Leafs Organization Gives Blue Jays Fans More Than They Bargained for at the End of the Home Opener

The Maple Leafs made sure Toronto sports fans got their money's worth after the Leafs' home opener, providing additional coverage of the Blue Jays at centre ice.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans got more than they bargained for when they purchased tickets to the team's season opener against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.
Not only did the Leafs manage to win the game by a score of 5-2 on home ice, but the most valuable franchise in the NHL also kept fans up-to-date on the score in the Blue Jays, Yankees playoff game in MLB action throughout the night.
The Leafs iced the Canadiens, with empty net goals from Auston Matthews and William Nylander putting the finishing touches on the Habs.
Leafs and Blue Jays Fans Get More Than Their Money's Worth After Win in Home Opener
After the team saluted the fans and made their way off the ice, the Leafs organization made sure to invite fans in the building to remain to watch the rest of the Blue Jays game.
Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly, who scored the game-winning goal in the 3rd period, really got a kick out of the fans chanting for the Jays during the Leafs game as they received updates.
"I like that. It's not the first time I've heard them, but I heard them early in my career, in a negative way, 2015, 16, whenever that was. It's cool."
Rielly received some laughs from the Toronto media for that one, as the last time that had occurred, it was during the season in which the Leafs finished dead last in the league, just before they drafted Matthews 1st overall.
Even Anthony Stolarz chimed in on the score of the Jays-Yankees game after picking up his first win of the season.
"As a Mets fan it was nice to look up and see that score."
The Leafs-Blue Jays brotherhood is well-established, and both organizations are very supportive of one another. This gesture by the Leafs' management group was evidence of that continued goodwill between the NHL and MLB clubs.
The Blue Jays went on the clinch their berth in the ALCS.
