Prior to departing to Florida for Game 3, Leafs captain Auston Matthews provided an update on the health status of injured goaltender Anthony Stolarz.
The Leafs did not skate on Thursday before heading South for the weekend. Instead, a handful of players and head coach Craig Berube met with the media as they have done throughout the playoffs. Of course, the big topic of discussion was about the health of Anthony Stolarz after he left Game 1 with a suspected concussion.
Although Berube had not seen Stolarz at the rink when he spoke with the media, Matthews had seen the goaltender and was able to provide Leafs Nation with a bit of a positive update.
"He seems to be feeling better. He's been around the rink and stuff. It's good to see him. We really aren't trying to pester him with questions, just be there to support him. Hopefully he's back here soon."
While the Leafs won't publicly say that Stolarz has a concussion, TSN's Chris Johnston pointed out in his piece for The Athletic that the return-to-play progression for players with head injuries lasts for a minimum of seven days, meaning Stolarz would not be able to return to the lineup before Wednesday's Game 5 if it is indeed a concussion that he's been dealing with.
